AND SHE DON’T STOP
Dacia Kornechuk, Cambridge, MA, USA, Documentary Short, 28 minutes.
“And She Don’t Stop” is a documentary that explores the elements of hip hop music and culture, told through the stories and voices of different women involved in the independent, underground hip hop scene in New York City. The film focuses on the four original elements of hip hop (beat boy/girl, graffiti artist, emcee, and dj). Independent or “underground” hip hop continues to exist much like hip hop did in the early days of its birth. Consisting of four equally important and respected elements, independent hip hop exists as an attempt to maintain the characteristics present in the original hip hop culture.
